Golden Globes Hits (and a few Misses)

Mila Kunis in Vera Wang
This color ruled the red carpet and I loved it!

Amy Adams in Marchesa.
Not a huge fan of her but I think she looks stunning in this dress and I'm always a sucker for navy.

Natalie Portman in Victor & Rolf
I have to say, I was expecting a little more wow with Ms. Portman and certainly not this quirky Victor & Rolf number, but I like that she didn't go with one of the predicted designers (Lanvin, Rodarte or Dior) and showed off her growing bump. Congrats to Natalie on her win!

  Megan Fox in Armani Prive
Gorgeous from head to toe.

Olivia Wilde in Marchesa
It's highly reminiscent to me of the Oscar de la Renta dress that Cameron Diaz wore last year but I still love it. Marchesa can do no wrong in my eyes and Olivia's hair and makeup aren't too over the top, which was a good choice for such a dramatic dress.

Piper Perabo in Oscar de la Renta
This isn't a great picture of her but I loved her whole look, I don't think she's ever looked better.

January Jones in Versace
My TOP PICK. January Jones has become my red carpet favorite, she always wears something daring, in a dramatic color with total class. Her hair and makeup are never done the same way twice, which so many stars have gotten in the habit of doing. January can do no wrong in my eyes. Versace made a good choice when they hired her on, she knows how to werk Versace.

OK, now it's time to touch on ones that I didn't like so much...

Michelle Williams in Valentino
My celebrity doppleganger. Awful. This dress does nothing but make her look like a frumpy, confused hippie. What happened to the times when she looked like a Hollywood movie star back in 2006 at the Globes?

Jennifer Love Hewitt in Ramona Kaveza
I hate this look. The dress doesn't do anything for her body, the color is not flattering and her hair is way to big. it ages her and makes her look large.

Lily Donaldson for Harpers Bazaar US

The times when models frequently graced the covers of magazines has been gone for quite some time (since about the time I was in diapers), but I SO wish that would change. Celebrities are overexposed as it is and constantly seeing them on every cover of every magazine gets old in my opinion. Unfortunately, in a time when magazines are lucky to be alive, celebrities sell magazines and that's the bottom line. Boo.

That's why when I saw the January cover of Harper's Bazaar with a model (shocker!) on the cover and shot by Terry Richardson, I felt a wave of sheer delight. It's really stunning and the spread inside is even better. The clothes, the adorable animals, the genius of the oh-so-creepy Terry Richards and the multiple shots of Lily smiling. Perfection in my eyes, bravo Harper's Bazaar and Julia Von Boehm for making it happen.

I love everything about this shot.

Gorgeous.

I have a feeling this is going to be a fantastic year. Good riddance 2010 (and 2009 for that matter).

The Year of Eleven

Happy New Year! I love this time of year and although I haven't had an epic New Year's Eve in years (I know it's sad), I still look forward to it every year. Sparkly dresses, the world celebrating and the "resolutions" and new beginnings that come with it.

2010 was a completely crazy year for me, I moved to New York City all on my own, barely knowing anyone. Looking back at this time last year and I can barely keep my stomach from turning as I feel the anxious feeling I felt then, to leave my friends and family and move cross the country. Crazy. After an internship that felt more like a crash course in fashion PR, I was hired at a beauty PR firm. It turned out to be completely toxic environment and I was left feeling very unhappy and back on the job search.

Amazingly, I was hired by another PR agency in the city a few weeks before Christmas and start tomorrow. I really can't think of a better way to start the new year, I couldn't be more excited to start this year and leave 2010 behind me. Here are a few things (maybe I got a little carried away) that I plan on accomplishing/ doing this year.

1. Join a gym, a nice one where I'm not scared of catching something if I touch the weights
2. Get myself back into shape (I know it's cliche but unfortunately it's necessary)
3. Throw myself into my new job
4. Balance my work and social life
5. Act my age (not 5-10 years older)
6. Sleep in on the weekends
7. Go to yoga (something I used to do religiously)
8. Save money
9. Only buy clothes/ shoes that I absolutely love
10. Be a great friend, sister and daughter
11. Blog more, not everyday, not even every week, just when I feel really inspired
12. Date more
13. Possibly even have some sort of relationship with a man
14. Wear heels more often
15. Read more books (not just magazines)
16. Take advantage of everything my city has to offer
18. Become a better writer by writing more often

Holiday Markets

Tis the season for merry markets galore in New York and I can't get enough. A few weekends back I visited the newly opened Union Square Holiday Market and was totally smitten with the Christmas music, apple cider stands and cute hand made gifts.

Then yesterday,  my roommate and I braved the crowds to walk through the Bryant Park Holiday Market. The one up it really has on Union Square is the giant ice-skating rink in the middle where (tourists) wait for hours in line. I feel so mean but it really is funny watching people attempt to channel their inner Tara Lipinski and glide around the rink, unfortunately there are about 300 people in that rink at the same time and minimal talent. Good entertainment though.

My Mom is in town next weekend and I plan on taking her to every Holiday Market in the city and getting as much in the Christmas spirit as possible!
