Holiday Markets

Tis the season for merry markets galore in New York and I can't get enough. A few weekends back I visited the newly opened Union Square Holiday Market and was totally smitten with the Christmas music, apple cider stands and cute hand made gifts.

Then yesterday,  my roommate and I braved the crowds to walk through the Bryant Park Holiday Market. The one up it really has on Union Square is the giant ice-skating rink in the middle where (tourists) wait for hours in line. I feel so mean but it really is funny watching people attempt to channel their inner Tara Lipinski and glide around the rink, unfortunately there are about 300 people in that rink at the same time and minimal talent. Good entertainment though.

My Mom is in town next weekend and I plan on taking her to every Holiday Market in the city and getting as much in the Christmas spirit as possible!

11.29

It's my Birthday! Unfortunately, I'm now one of those that hasn't seen much excitement in a birthday since I turned 21. Either way, I'll be able to share it with family and close friends before heading back to the big apple.

Veg

Vegetable. That is what I have been for the past week. I've been home in Colorado for the long holiday (I took a nice seven days off from work) and I've immensely enjoyed doing absolutely nothing. Well, nearly nothing. Taking the dogs for morning walks, cooking with my Mom, driving my car (something I can't ever do in NY and miss terribly), cuddling with my dog Bella, laughing with my brother, spending time with my best friend and her kids and watching countless movies.

I love New York City and don't see myself leaving for a long time but sometimes the "hustle and bustle" does get to me. The peace of being on my family's little farm and looking up at the foothills really does bring me back down and appreciate the things most important to me.

Paris vs. New York

I recently came across the cutest blog called Paris versus New York: A Tale of Two Cities. It compares the landmarks, people, rodents and much more between the two famous cities with adorable drawings.

So, which city do you think is the best city, Paris or New York?

Here are a few of my favorites.

Click here to visit the full blog. Enjoy! (Or should I say, Profitez!)

Dree Hemingway for VOGUE UK November 2010

I'm absolutely obsessed with Dree and these photos shot Idaho. I'm from Colorado and it reminds me of my hometown and family. The mountains and foothills are rough, unglamorous and completely breathtaking. Looking at it makes me miss the smell of horses and  fresh air, but thankful I go home to a place so beautiful when New York has drained me.

Army Green Anorak

It's that time of year when the seasons are changing and all I can think about is what I need in my fall/winter "closet." (I say "closet" because my lovely pre-war East Village apartment unfortunately does not come with a closet and what I have containing my clothes is more of a lean-to situation) Anyways,  I am in desperate need of the very trendy, green, fur-trimmed anorak. I've seen it in many variations and I love it for the pop of color it adds during months when all I want to wear is black and the cozy fur trim.

Fridays Rock

The term "workin for the weekend" has never felt so real as it has the past few weeks.

Warrior Woman

Doesn't she resemble a gorgeous woman version of Leonardo Dicaprio as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet? Either way, it's a stunning shot and I'm happy to see something so different on a cover.

I Want Lanvin Too

I'm really loving the Lanvin for H&M collection right now. In my opinion it's one of the best collaborations yet and is going to fly off shelves quicker anything H&M has ever seen. I originally thought it was going to be available on November 23rd but I just read that in select stores it will be available on November 20th. This is exciting news for me I'm scheduled to leave for Colorado, far from any H&M, early on the 23rd. I think my go-to pieces will be the faux fur coat and the large red necklace and earrings. I'm not much of a fighter but I'm preparing myself to get scrappy!
